Intel Itanium Road Map is right on Schedule: "Intel is preparing to stick with its Itanium processor for some time to come."
Intel disclosed its Itanium road map June 14, and officials said Intel will deliver the refresh of its current 'Montecito' processor by the second half of 2007.
Late 2008, Intel will deliver its next-generation Itanium, code-named Tukwila. It is a quad-core processor that will support 8 software threads simultaneously, taking con-currency to the next level.
After those two processors hit the market, Intel is going to launch another Itanium chip, which has been code-named 'Poulson', and it will be built with Intel's 32-nanometer manufacturing process. That processor will be followed by another chip called 'Kittson.'
